Pioneering Milestones - Historical Milestones & Achievements of the Sorority
Historical milestones and achievements characterize our Sorority’s journey from the vision of Ethel Hedgemon Lyle to the global entity we are today. Throughout the Sorority’s 108 years, we have witnessed many “firsts” in leadership. This section of the exhibit draws attention to the significant artifacts of our Sorority that underscore our steady flow of innovation and expansion. The Alpha Kappa Alpha family of 290,000 members from all over the world continuously contribute to our multidimensional success as we embrace new milestones in service to humankind.

A fascinating introduction to Alpha Kappa Alpha’s pioneering members - women who have been active, visionary barrier breakers, seizing every opportunity to make a difference throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This exhibit ensures that their empowering stories continue to inspire and are not left out of recorded history.
21st Century Sorors who are continuing the AKA tradition of breaking barriers
This section of the exhibit is designed to spotlight 21st century Sorors who are continuing the Alpha Kappa Alpha tradition of breaking barriers. These contemporary pioneers are establishing an impressive record of leadership in the workplace and in the community at large. They are our future!
This section features a list of oral and audio interviews along with printed resources of the early development of the sorority, as well as a selective bibliography of published works by and about Alpha Kappa Alpha women, 1908- present.
