First African American female to win a Gold Medal in Piano in the Society of Musicians Contest and to play with the Cosmopolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Northwestern Symphony and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She taught in the Chicago Public Schools until her retirement in 1993 after serving as Professor of Music at Bennett College, Greensboro, North Carolina.
