First African American female Assistant Metropolitan Editor for the Boston Globe newspaper. This pioneering Soror was a part of the Boston Globe team that won the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Boston's school desegregation (1975). She instituted the first Black History Week commemoration in the Boston Globe which was later expanded into a month of recognition. After work at the Boston Globe as a reporter, assistant city editor and columnist, Fields served as reporter/anchor at Boston television channels 7, 4 and 2.
