The first African American to serve full-time as a reporter for the Washington Daily News - Washington, North Carolina. This pioneer also was the first African American woman to be selected for membership in the North Carolina Press Club. In addition, she was the first full-time African American woman Press Officer in the NC Department of Health and Human Services under the James B. Hunt administration.
