First African American Female, along with her husband, to secure funds from the Episcopal Church to bring Saul Alensky to Rochester, New York to assist the community to recover after the Riots (July 1964). In addition to her civil rights work, she helped to found the Oregon Leopold Day Care Center and worked for the construction of St. Simon's Terrace which provided affordable apartments and townhouses in the inner city.
