First African American female to co-edit a special issue of Exceptional Children, the official journal of the Council for Exceptional Children (1992). First African American Co-founder and Editor of 'Multiple Voices for Ethnically Diverse Exceptional Learners' (1993). Co-author of the first two professional textbooks focusing exclusively on African American youth with disabilities (1992 and 2002). She is currently coordinating a special mentoring project focusing on Black males at the University of Akron.
