This pioneering soror attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The University had no track team, but she participated in the Olympics in Helsinki, Finland as part of the American Amateur Union (1952). She later won five national titles in the 50 and 60 yard dashes, in additon to holding the American 50 yard dash record. Depaul University inducted her into their Hall of Fame and she has been inducted in the Chicago Hall of Fame (2011).
