This pioneer was the first African American Teacher to advocate to have the history of Black Americans included in the Course of Study in the Elementary and Secondary Schools of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She became known as "The Voice of Negro History" on her Sunday radio show "W.D.A.S.Negro School on the Air." Instrumental in getting the Mayor of Philadelphia and the Governor of Pennsylvania to proclaim NEGRO HISTORY WEEK during the month of February.(1965)
