First African American woman dentist in Boston, Massachusetts, and first African American woman graduate of Tufts Dental School (1919). This pioneer practiced dentistry for several decades from an office behind her home, and also operated a nursing and rehabilitation home for elderly patients discharged from hospitals. Dr. Garnett's homed and office are featured on the Boston Women's History Trail.
